Who the video consultation is for

A video consultation isn’t for everything, but for some cases it’s the best way to start:

A second opinion before surgery: we review your MRI and what you’ve been offered, and tell you frankly whether there is another option.
You live outside Valencia or abroad: a first assessment without travelling, in English or Spanish.
You want guidance before coming: to clarify whether your case is surgical and which technique would fit, before travelling to an in-person consultation.
Post-operative follow-up: check-ups and questions after surgery, comfortably from home.

How it works, step by step

1
Request your video consultation through the contact form and tell us briefly about your case.
2
Send your MRI securely: we give you a link to upload your images (MRI/CT) and reports, and we arrange a date and time.
3
You speak with Dr. Vilatela by video call: we review your images together on screen and answer all your questions.
4
You receive clear guidance: whether your case is surgical and which technique fits; and if an in-person examination is needed, we tell you frankly.

What to prepare

To make the most of the video consultation, have your recent MRI or CT scan to hand —ideally the study images, not just the report—, your previous medical reports and a brief summary of your pain and the treatments you’ve already tried. You’ll need a device with a camera and an internet connection.

When a video consultation isn’t enough (and we tell you)

A video consultation is excellent for reviewing your MRI and guiding a second opinion, but it does not replace a physical examination when the case requires it. If we need to examine you in person or run additional tests, we’ll tell you clearly and guide you on the next steps. We don’t aim to replace the in-person visit, but to save you unnecessary travel.

Private and confidential consultation

It is a private consultation (we do not work with Asisa, Adeslas or other insurers). The video call uses a secure link and your images and reports are handled confidentially, in line with the GDPR.

Price of the video consultation

The cost of the video consultation is given when you request it. We work privately and, if surgery is appropriate after the assessment, we give you a closed quote with pricing and financing options.

Frequently asked questions about the spine video consultation

Is a second opinion by video consultation reliable?

Yes. Many spine surgery decisions are based on the MRI and the clinical history, and that can be reviewed perfectly by video call. We look at your images together and explain the options. If your case needs a physical examination, we tell you.

How do I send my MRI?

We give you a secure link to upload your study (ideally the full images, not just the printed report) before the appointment, so Dr. Vilatela can review them with you during the call.

Do you see patients from outside Spain?

Yes. We see patients from across Spain and abroad, in English and Spanish. The video consultation is ideal for a first assessment before planning a trip.

Do I need to travel to Valencia for the video consultation?

No. The video consultation takes place by video call from wherever you are. If surgery or an in-person examination is ultimately needed, we arrange the visit.

Does the video consultation replace an in-person consultation?

Not always. It is ideal for a second opinion, for guidance and for follow-up. When the case requires a physical examination or tests, we tell you frankly.

Is it useful for follow-up after surgery?

Yes. For many check-ups and questions after surgery, the video consultation is a convenient option that saves you travel.

Do you work with medical insurance?

No. It is a private consultation. We do not work with Asisa, Adeslas or other insurers.
